Fighting Teammates…Continued…

This time our battle rages on in the collegiate level of baseball.
The scene: the NCAA Super Regionals, with a bid to the College World Series at Omaha on the line.
The teams: Arizona State and Fresno State. The final score was 12-9 in favor of Fresno State. They are the first four seed to get to Omaha since the tournament of teams was upped to 64 in 1999.
The fight was between two players on the losing team and it happened moments before the first pitch was even thrown between the two teams.
The two teammates who fought each other as the team’s infield practice was ending were both taken in Major League Baseball’s First Year Player Draft last week. They were drafted only spots apart in the first round.
First baseman Ike Davis was taken 18th overall by the Mets and third baseman Brett Wallace was taken 13th overall by the Cardinals. Wallace was also named the Pac-10 Player of the Year.
Wallace threw a ball to first base during infield practice and it was not caught by Davis. Wallace then proceeded to have words with his first baseman before the two went after each other on the field and had to be separated by teammates.
And obviously to make matters worse is that Arizona State lost that game 12-9 to Fresno State, ultimately eliminating them from the playoffs. Arizona State did not win a game in the Super Regional Tournament, being swept 2-0 by Fresno State.
The Sun Devils, before their two straight losses to Fresno, were undefeated in four playoff games.
