Top Ten/Eleven Young Impact Players in Baseball

Published by Jim Vassallo at 3:37 pm under General Baseball, MILB, MLB Edit This

Baseball is quickly regaining speed from the backlash involving the release of the Mitchell Report, which is arguably the biggest killer of the game since the 1994 strike in terms of fans walking away from the game.

One of the main reasons that the sport is regaining speed is the influx of very young, incredibly talented players that have made a quick climb up the ladder from the minors to the majors.

This list could go on and on and on and on but it needs to somehow be limited to 10/11 players. I say 11 because the Upton brothers take up one slot on the list. The two of them are so talented that they need to be placed on the same line, so at least one other player can make the cut.

The list is not in any specific order. The players are just placed on the list randomly. It becomes way too difficult to rank all 11 of them and come up with a fair grading system.

We will also take a look at the top ten young impact pitchers in the game today (coming soon)…here’s the catch…they don’t even have to be in the major leagues at the time of this posting.

Let’s begin with the fire starter of the Florida Marlins’ lineup, Hanley Ramirez. Ramirez is one of the quickest players in the game today in the field and on the base paths. His cannon for an arm plus his knack for getting to the baseball makes him an ideal shortstop. Give Ramirez another year or two and he should win an MVP, I just can’t tell you which league he will win it for. If the Marlins continue to trade away their young talent then he might not last much longer in South Florida.

Following Ramirez, in no particular order mind you, are the Upton boys. Justin and B.J. have light a fire into their respective teams’ lineup with their blazing speed and quick hands at the plate. Justin has solidified the outfield for the Diamondbacks while B.J. is anchoring an outfield spot with the Rays as well.

These two brothers have unlimited capabilities as major league ballplayers and should have very long and productive careers with their respective teams. Both have a natural ability to hit the ball to all fields and speed compliments their game as well. Both B.J. and Justin are threats on the base paths and can cover a ton of ground in the outfield.

To go along with natural talent, the two are playing on winning teams in Arizona and Tampa Bay (who ever thought we would say that Tampa Bay was a winning team?).

This is only the beginning of our top ten/eleven young impact players in baseball. Check back tomorrow for the next two on our list. And don’t forget, they are not in any particular order whatsoever.
