Baseball Honors Dads on Dads Day!
Major League Baseball honored the dads of their players at stadiums across the country today.
Not only did dads of players across the league throw out first pitches, but baseball took this Sunday in June to battle prostate cancer.Players, umpires, grounds keepers, security guards and coaches alike wore blue sweatbands on their arms and even some players wore eye-blue instead of eye-black during their games. All players, coaches and umpires also wore blue ribbons on their jerseys.
Prostate cancer affects one in six men across the country. Today’s pre-game ceremonies were to promote prostate cancer awareness and to stress the importance of early detection.
Bases, bats, home plates and a variety of signed memorabilia from today’s games are being auctioned off at mlb.com, where all proceeds will go to the Prostate Cancer Foundation.
Here is where you can find more information about today’s ceremonies.
Also, check out the Prostate Cancer Foundation’s website and their information regarding the 12th annual Home Run Challenge to benefit Prostate Cancer research and awareness.
Don’t forget to check back tonight before midnight for part four of our five part series chronicling the top ten/eleven young impact players in baseball.
Once again, Happy Father’s Day to all you dads out there and I hope you enjoyed your day.
