Game 6 Tonight

Published by Jim Vassallo at 4:10 pm under Games, General Baseball, MLB, Playoffs Edit This

Game 6 of the American League Championship Series takes place tonight at Tropicana Field in Florida as the Boston Red Sox look to stave off elimination for at least one more day.

The Tampa Bay Rays will lean on James Shields to catapult the Rays into the World Series for the first time in their franchise history.

The Red Sox, hoping to make another historic comeback, will send playoff guru Josh Beckett to the mound to prolong the Red Sox season for one more game.

Beckett has not been as dominant as years past in the playoffs but is due for one of those eight inning, one run performances. The only problem is that since Tampa was shut out 2-0 in game one of this series, they have exploded offensively.

The Rays lead the best of seven series 3 games to 2 and face a must win situation tonight. If Boston wins tonight and ties the series all the momentum and confidence is in the Boston dugout.

If the series were to go to seven games, the Red Sox would send lefty Jon Lester to the hill to clinch a second straight World Series berth for the storied franchise.

The winner of the series will face the Phillies, who won their NLCS against the Dodgers 4 games to 1.
