Braves Won’t Part with Top Prospects for Peavy
The Atlanta Braves made it known to their fans and the rest of the baseball world on Thursday that they will not trade any of their top prospects to acquire Padres ace Jake Peavy.
Braves GM Frank Wren said on Thursday that in no way, or close to no way, that the Braves will trade any of their top prospects to the Padres for Peavy.
Those top prospects are Tommy Hanson, Yunel Escobar, Kelly Johnson and/or Jordan Schafer.
The Padres made it known to the baseball world earlier this week that they are placing Peavy on the market but aren’t that willing or that anxious to deal him just yet.
The Padres will need to find the perfect package of prospects or prospects and big league players. They aren’t going to just give away their top starter for nothing.
Peavy told the team, since he has a full no trade clause, that he will accept a deal to the Braves, the Astros, the Dodgers, the Cubs and the Cardinals.
