Everett Signs with Tigers

The Detroit Tigers filled their void at shortstop on Monday when they announced the signing of free agent shortstop Adam Everett.

Everett will join the Tigers for the 2009 season on a one year deal.

Everett played for the Minnesota Twins in 2008 and hit .213 with 2 homeruns, 20 RBIs, and 19 runs scored in only 48 games.

Everett collected only 27 hits in 127 at-bats with the Twins.

Everett was signed as a free agent before the 2008 season by the Twins. He was originally drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the 4th round of the 1995 draft but did not sign.

He was then drafted by the Boston Red Sox in the 1st round (12th pick) of the 1998 draft and was traded by the Red Sox to the Houston Astros for outfielder Carl Everett on December 14, 1999.
