Angels and Rivera Agree

The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim have agreed to a three year contract with free agent outfielder Juan Rivers.

The deal is worth $12.75 million. Rivers rejoins the Angels after posting a .246 batting average, 12 homeruns and 45 RBIs.

His best year in the Majors came with the Angels in 2006 when he hit .310 with 23 homeruns and 85 RBIs.

Rivera has played for the New York Yankees (2001-2003), the Montreal Expos (2004), and the Angels (2005-present).

In eight career seasons Rivera has a .284 average with 72 homeruns, 278 RBIs, 101 doubles and 497 hits in 555 games.

The Angels are still keeping the door open to resigning free agent first baseman Mark Teixeira to a new contract as it was announced today by the Boston Red Sox that they have been outbid in the sweepstakes.
