Big Unit to the Giants
Randy Johnson, affectionately known as the Big Unit, has signed a one year contract with the San Francisco Giants.
Johnson will more than likely reach the 300 win plateau with the Giants in 2009 barring any injuries or a trade to another team.
He had expressed interest in pitching on the West Coast again, he pitched for the Seattle Mariners from 1989-1998, and expressed interest in playing for the Giants.
Johnson has also pitched for the Montreal Expos, the Mariners, the Astros, Diamondbacks, Yankees and Diamondbacks.
The Giants are now the sixth different organization that Johnson will suit up for.
He is 295-160 in his storied career with a 3.26 ERA. He has 4,789 strikeouts and 1,466 walks. He threw a perfect game with the Diamondbacks against the Atlanta Braves in 2004 in Atlanta.
He posted a career high in wins with 24 in 2002 and was named the co-MVP of the 2001 World Series with teammate Curt Schilling.
He has also posted three 20 win seasons and one 19 win season throughout his career.
His contract with the Giants is worth $8 million.
