Hoffman Offered Pair of Deals

All-time saves leader Trevor Hoffman has received contract offers from both the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Milwaukee Brewers in recent days.

Both teams have offered Hoffman one year contracts and Milwaukee’s manager Ken Macha has even contacted Hoffman to make the offer personal.

Hoffman has spent the majority of his career in the Padres organization after being traded by the Florida Marlins to the Padres for Gary Sheffield and others.

Hoffman picked up two of his career 554 saves with the Marlins in 1993. He was originally drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in 1989.

The Marlins drafted him with the eighth pick in the 1992 expansion draft from the Reds. Hoffman and the Padres cut off all negotiations earlier in the off-season.
